Annual & Biannual Wellness

Your annual visit is where we protect what we cannot see.

Cats hide illness with extraordinary efficiency. A wellness exam with bloodwork, blood pressure, and a thorough physical is how we find what observation at home cannot reveal.

Wellness Visit Checklist

Carrier with familiar bedding, pheromone product sprayed 30 min prior

Written list of behavioral or physical changes in the past year

All current medications, supplements, and foods

Prior records if this is your first CatsOnly visit

Notes on litter box patterns, frequency and output

Your Cat can eat a small morning meal unless told otherwise

What a Wellness Visit Includes

More than a checkup, a full clinical picture.

Every CatsOnly wellness visit is tailored to your Cat’s age, weight history, lifestyle, and any concerns you bring. For Cats of all ages, screening lab tests are strongly recommended to establish baselines and detect early change.

01

Full Physical Examination

Weight and body condition scoring, muscle mass, lymph nodes, eyes, ears, oral cavity, coat and skin, heart and lungs, abdominal palpation. The exam depends on what the exam reveals.

02

Vaccinations

CatsOnly follows individualized vaccination protocols based on FelineVMA guidelines and your Cat’s specific lifestyle and risk. We do not follow reflexively annual schedules.

03

Bloodwork & Screening

Annual bloodwork is strongly recommended for all adult Cats. CBC, chemistry, T4 thyroid screening, and proBNP cardiac biomarker give us the baseline that makes change detectable over time.

04

Blood Pressure Screening

Feline hypertension is silent until it causes vision loss, kidney damage, or cardiac strain. We screen every Cat 7 years and older at every wellness visit using a blood pressure cuff and Doppler.

05

Dental Assessment

Dental disease affects the majority of adult Cats and contributes to systemic inflammation and chronic pain. A full oral exam at every wellness visit determines whether a dental cleaning is indicated.

06

Your Questions & Observations

Bring a written list. Behavioral changes, diet questions, mobility observations, multi-Cat dynamics. Nothing is too small to mention, your observations are our first diagnostic tool.

How Often to Come In

Visit frequency by life stage.

Under 7 Years

Annually. A year in a Cat’s life is significant. Annual exams allow us to build the baselines that make change detectable.

7 to 10 Years, Mature

Annually with bloodwork and blood pressure screening included as standard. This is the life stage where early chronic disease most commonly begins to emerge.

11 and Older, Senior and Geriatric

Every six months. The clinical landscape at this age changes meaningfully in a six-month window.

Preparing at Home

The days before your visit matter.

Leave the carrier out with familiar bedding for several days

Apply a feline pheromone product inside the carrier 30 minutes before loading

Note any behavioral changes from the past year, even subtle ones

Write down your Cat’s current diet: brand, wet or dry ratio, treats, supplements

Bring all medications or supplements, including OTC products

For bloodwork visits: a small meal in the morning is fine unless told otherwise

“The history a Cat Parent brings to a wellness visit is the first diagnostic tool we use. The more specific and consistent that history is over years, the better we can detect early change.”
